CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Communication Aid Manufacturers Association (CAMA) is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. This program is offered for up to 0.5 CEUs (Various levels; Professional area). ASHA CE Provider approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products or clinical procedures.
Certificates of Attendance indicative of actual contact time, and if applicable, the equivalent CEU value, will be available at the workshop for all participants in need of this documentation.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
This workshop is intended for administrators, speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, teachers and special educators, assistive technology and rehabilitation specialists, as well as students, consumers and their families. Representatives from as many as 12 of the leading manufacturers in AAC technology will conduct presentations so that at the conclusion of the workshop, you will be able to:
Understand and define the following terminology as used in augmentative & alternative communication: communication device/aid, switches, environmental control, scanning and voice-output, digitized and synthesized speech, dynamic and static display;
Identify at least three different communication devices and three different switches, or environmental control units, and understand their functional applications in at least one speaking situation;
Identify at least three software applications useful to non-verbal individuals.
